Memorial Jewellery
A piece of glass that helps you hold a memory of a loved one close, whether it be a family member or a beloved pet.
Each memorial bead is made by hand in my studio in Bray, Berkshire, by encasing a small amount of cremation ash inside the molten glass while the bead is being made.
The bead can become a pendant, a charm bead for a bracelet, or a matching set - let’s chat about what you’d prefer.
You may like to have the cremation ash visible or hidden away under the glass layers. The look of the bead is up to your personal preference.
Prices from £100
Memorial Bead Projects:
The cremation ash doesn't need necessarily have to show on the outside
The cremation ash is clearly visible in this rich blue green charm bead
Sometimes it's a nice idea to match the colours of the beads with the colours of the funeral flowers
Single charm bead worn on a simple Meadowhawk cuff bracelet
Full view of charm bead on cuff bracelet
Smaller hole beads strung onto a simple cord
the bubbles are because of reactions inside the glass while it's melting and being wound round the mandrel
Lots of colour variants are possible
Simple blue charm bead suitable to wear on smaller European charm bracelets
Shaded turquoise glass encasement
Memorial pebbles to hold in a pocket on display on a desk or dressing table
Ash can react in the melting process creating changes of colour and bubbles. This is what makes each one unique
How it works
-
Get in touch and tell me about the person or pet, and the colours or feelings you’d like the piece to carry.
Would you prefer the ash to be hidden inside the bead or visible?
-
We will agree a design, price and timescale.
I will add your project to my ‘Make List’ once I have recieved your deposit. (Usually 50% of the total price).
Pieces take approximately 2-4 weeks once started, and I’ll agree an estimated completion date with you when the deposit is received.
Because each piece is entirely personal, memorial commissions cannot be refunded or exchanged once torch work begins.
-
Please send 1 level teaspoons of ash per bead ordered, and no more please.
Send it in a double-sealed, clearly labelled, leak proof bag or container with your return address visible.
Anything not used in the glass is packaged securely and returned to you with your order.
-
Only one memorial project is ever worked on in my studio at a time, so there is no risk of cross-contamination.
Every package is handled with the utmost reverence from the moment it arrives until it is sent back to you.
I will make your items and if appropriate send you photographs for approval. (The video at the top of the page here is an ‘approval’ video that I sent to one of my clients).
-
Once full payment for the pieces and tracked and signed shipping is received, your pieces will be sent you plus any cremation ash that has not been used in the bead-making process
